How To Manually Customize Android Status Bar And Notifications bar

For Android How-To

Personally speaking, I was not a very big fan of customizing Android notifications bars or even status bars. Honestly, I didn’t care much about it. Until one day, I came across ways and apps using which I could make these beautiful and customize them as per my wishes. It isn’t just about changing the look but taking your productivity to the next level.

In this blog, we’ll look into how you can change your Android status and notifications bar – both by manually and by using apps. Let’s dive in!

The following steps are done on a Samsung device. The steps may vary depending on your Android smartphone –

Changing The Status Bar Manually

Status Bar

  1. Pull down the slider below the status bar
  2. On the top right click on three vertical dots
  3. Choose Status bar
  4. Here you can choose whether you wish to have only 3 recent notifications or All notifications. You can even choose to show battery percentage as well

Changing The Notifications

In simple terms, every app sends a notification as and when activity happens. For instance, every time you’ll get a WhatsApp text, you’ll be notified. Android allows you to choose which all apps should be able to notify you. To modify app notifications follow the steps below –

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap on notifications
  3. Under Recently sent click on See all
  4. From the dropdown, under App notifications head, you can choose apps whose notifications you want or don’t want to appear. To make a notification appear/ not appear in the notification shade toggle the switch against an app to the right/ left.
