WhatsApp Launches Self-Destructing Voice Message Feature – Check All Details

WhatsApp is enhancing its functionality by introducing the ‘View once’ feature for audio messages, allowing users to send temporary voice messages. This function, which was first introduced for images and videos, now offers an extra degree of protection to protect private data sent via voice conversations.

This feature proves valuable in scenarios where there’s a need to share confidential data such as credit/debit card details and OTPs, securely with a friend. It also comes in handy for sending surprise messages meant to be heard only once.

WhatsApp Rolls Out Self-Destructing Voice – Here’s the Information You Need

WhatsApp’s ‘View once’ feature lives up to its name—it deletes a message after just one viewing. While this capability has been in place for videos and photos since 2021, it has now been extended to include voice messages. Now, you can send voice messages that are playable only once before they vanish from the application.

WhatsApp ensures that all types of personal messages, including voice messages with the “View once” feature, are automatically protected with end-to-end encryption.

Here’s How to Send ‘View Once’ Voice Messages on WhatsApp

  • Open WhatsApp and select tap on any chat.
  • Hit the microphone icon and swipe it up to lock your voice recording.

You have to select the ‘View once’ option for every instance to send a view once voice message. Once a “view once” voice message is accessed, it cannot be revisited. Furthermore, these messages won’t be stored on their device and can’t be recorded. Upon receiving a voice message, it is essential to open and listen to it within 14 days of being sent. Failure to do so will result in the message expiring and vanishing from the chat. Furthermore, voice messages sent or received through the view once media feature cannot be forwarded, saved, starred, or shared.
