iOS 14 Leaks and Rumors – What We Know Before WWDC 2020

With just a few days left for Apple’s WWDC developer’s conference, rumors and leaks about Apple’s first beta iOS 14 can be overheard. While we cannot be sure about these alleged leaks, whether they will make it to iOS 14 final build, and this is not it. There’s a lot to be thrilled about.

Launch Date

First COVID-19 unsettled things now the uprising in America to end racism is making people anxious. Looking at this earlier, Google cancelled the launch of Android 11 Beta followed by Sony delaying PS5 reveal.

In a tweet, the company said the planned PlayStation 5 event is suspended indefinitely.

Looking at this, people started to think the same would happen with the Apple event, but it seems things are working as planned.

WWDC 2020, the first-ever virtual event will start on June 22nd as planned. During the event, Apple is said to introduce iOS 14 and make other announcements.

Previously, the announcement was tailed by releasing developer beta, followed by public beta then releasing it officially during the September event.

But this year, the timeline will be changed due to production delays. This means instead of September the event might be held in October where iOS 14 will be released for all. However, the company has said nothing officially.

Modified Home Screen

According to 9to5Mac, the Home screen in iOS 14 will look like the current Apple Watch app list, in which sorting options will be added. This means that the current grid view will be replaced by list of apps.

Further list view will show apps with unread notifications and will give smart suggestions based on daily usage from Siri.

Altering default apps

Rumors suggest iOS 14 will give users a chance to pick from third-party apps. This means instead of Apple Music; you can opt for Spotify, Waze in place of Google Maps, Chrome as an alternative to Safari.

Apple is said to make changes in its Message apps with this user will be able to address specific people in group chats with @ symbol like they do in WhatsApp and Slack.

Also, new emojis with tricks for Memojis and Animojis will be added.

Wallpaper changes

A newly redesigned wallpaper settings panel that includes default wallpapers separated by collections will be seen in iOS 14. Instead of getting all wallpapers in one place, users will be able to sift through each collection to find wallpaper.

Alongside the option to set custom wallpaper on CarPlay will also be seen.

iPad-like multitasking features

Multitasking features to the iPhone will be added with the launch of iOS 14 beta.

New features added to Safari

It’s not secret Siri can translate phrases and words, but with iOS 14, its capabilities will enhance. According to 9to5 Mac, like Google Chrome, Safari will be able to translate a page in a click even when there is no Wi-Fi or cell signal.
Alongside Apple Pencil support will also be added to Safari so that you can use it as a cursor when taking note.

A new training app

Looking at the change in the fitness industry, Apple is also adding a new workout app in iOS 14. With this user will be able to track yoga, running, strength training, cycling, rowing, dance, and several other activities. In addition to this, it will be added to Apple TV & Apple Watch.

Good news, the app will be free, but there might be a subscription fee.

Augmented reality app

You might also get a new augmented reality app on iOS 14.

Compatibility

Rumors suggest unlike previous updates all devices running iOS 13 will be compatible with iOS.

OS Recovery

To help users deal with iPhone or iPad stop working problems, Apple is said to test a new feature called “OS Recovery.” Using it, users will be able to restore iOS devices directly over-the-air. Alongside they will be able to connect it via USB to another iPad or iPhone.
