1. Install Apps Using Winget

  • Click on the Search icon from the Taskbar and type ‘command’ and then open the Command Prompt by clicking on Run as administrator.
  • Type ‘winget search (name)’ command and press the enter key to check the particular app to download. Replace the “(name)” part with the name of the app you want to download. I am looking for Brave Browser.

  • Search for and copy the Id of the application that you would like to install from the collection of apps that appears.
  • Type ‘winget install (Id)’ command to install the application. Replace the “(Id)” part with the Id of the app you want to download. In my case, it is ‘Brave’

Following your completion of the aforementioned stages, Windows Package Manager (winget) will start the installation procedure. To continue with the installations if a User Account Control (UAC) prompt appears on your screen, select Yes.

2. Update Applications Via Winget

However, it is important to note that the software you wish to update must be accessible on Microsoft’s repository for this feature to work. Here is what you need to do:

  • Click on the Search icon from the Taskbar and type ‘command’ and then open the Command Prompt by clicking on Run as administrator.
  • Type ‘winget upgrade’ command and press the enter key to allow winget to scan for any outdated apps that may be present on your computer, then hit the Enter

  • Scan the list of apps that appears and locate the application you wish to update, then copy the Id of that application.
  • Type ‘winget upgrade (Id)’ command to upgrade the application.
  • Now, you need to replace the (Id) section of the command with the app’s Id you just copied.

You can update all the apps installed on your system at once by entering the following command in the command prompt window and hitting the enter key: winget upgrade — all

3. Uninstall or Delete Apps using Winget

If you wish to remove apps from your Windows 11 computer, you can do so swiftly with the aid of the Windows Package Manager. Here is what you need to do:

  • Click on the Search icon from the Taskbar and type ‘command’ and then open the Command Prompt by clicking on Run as administrator.
  • Enter the following command into the and press Enter to allow winget to search for all the applications installed on your PC: winget list

  • To make use of this command, you need to replace the (Name) section with the name of the app that you want to remove. In my case it is the Brave browser app so, the command will be winget list –name brave
  • Now copy the Id of the app.
  • Type ‘winget uninstall (Id)’ command to install the application. Replace the “(Id)” part with the Id of the app you want to download. In my case, it is ‘Brave’
