How To Use, Read And Write NFC Tags In iOS 13

With the latest versions of smartphones, NFC is the feature that can help in transferring information from one phone to another. NFC is an abbreviation of Near Field Communication. It is a wireless connection that can be used to transfer information to & from a smartphone.

Near Field Communication (NFC) tags are small circuits integrated and designed to store information that can be retrieved by the NFC-enabled devices. They both have a bit of storage memory along with a NFC radio chip attached to an antenna.

How To Read and Write NFC Tags With iPhone Using iOS 13?

With the latest iPhone updates, i.e. iOS 13, iPhone 7 and later versions are able to write NFC tags. Following are listed the steps for NFC tag writer:

1. Get NFC Tags

First and foremost, you’ll need NFC tags to write any information to them. The NFC tags you get must be blank and unlocked, as you can never rewrite NFC tag after it has been once locked.

2. Install an App

To write NFC tag on iOS 13, you need to install an app like: NFC TagWriter by NXP. This is a dedicated application for writing NFC tags.

How to Write NFC Tags?

Now, since you have a tag writer app, you need to follow the steps below to use it as NFC tag writer:

  • Open the launched app.
  • Click on ‘New’ at the bottom right of the screen.

  • Choose the required tab to enter details.

  • Click on Save & Write to save NFC tag details. It is done. Your NFC tag is ready to use.

How to Read NFC Tags On iPhone Version iOS13? 

So, now that you have written NFC tag, it’s the time to read NFC tags or scan a QR code. The process is simple but might vary from device to device. The iOS 13 devices do not need any NFC tag reader app and can easily read NFC tags.

For iPhone XR, XS and newer: 

  • Locate NFC tag on the object you are scanning.
  • Tap on the top of your phone to scan over the NFC tag is located on the object.
  • A notification will appear on your screen, tap it to launch the information in the scanned tag.

For iPhone 7 or such:

Decode-NFC scanner

  • Now, locate your phone on the object, where the NFC tag is located.
  • Tap on the top of your phone to scan over the NFC tag is located on the object.

Note: For iPhone 7 users, it is important to download the NFC reader app, and for older iPhone devices, NFC compatibility is not possible.
