Here’s How You Can Track Data Usage on Google Wi-Fi

The Google Wi-Fi companion app lets you see what’s connected, run a speed test, quickly troubleshoot, set up a guest network, and more. It puts you in control of your network — easily shares  your Wi-Fi password, see what devices are online, prioritize them for better performance, or pause the Wi-Fi on kids’ devices. The app also provides insights helping you to get the most of your Wi-Fi network.

Here are the quick steps to track your network data usage via the app:

  1. Open the Google Wi-Fi app and switch to the middle tab (Globe symbol) if it isn’t already selected.Google Wifi App
  2. Now from here, tap on the circle at the bottom next to your Google Wi-Fi network’s name.Google wifi test
  3. Here you’ll see a complete list of devices that are connected to your Google Wi-Fi network, along with how much data they’re consuming every moment. Tap on a device to view more information about its data usage over time.Google wifi devices

4. By default, you’ll see that device’s data usage over the last five seconds. However, you can view a broader history by tapping on “Last 5 Seconds” toward the top.Google wifi nest labs

5. Select a date range, from various listed options either the last 24 hours,     7 days, 30 days, or 60 days.Google wifi time

6. Once selected, you’ll see how much total data was downloaded and uploaded by that device over the specified wifi nest7. Taking use of this piece of information, you can see which devices are using up the most data, and hopefully make some changes to your setup so that you don’t hit your data cap every month.

    I like the usage tracking on my Google Wifi. Is there a way to track from date to date instead of the choices available? I would like to track the same time frame that my provider tracks.
