WhatsApp, under the ownership of Meta, is introducing a new functionality for Android users that allows them to search messages based on date, access channel alerts, and navigate hidden labels. As reported by WABetaInfo, these features are currently accessible to a select group of beta testers and are expected to be gradually released to a broader user base in the upcoming days.
The features mentioned are included in WhatsApp beta for Android version 126.96.36.199. However, it’s worth noting that beta testers using this build may not immediately experience these features. They are initially accessible to a limited group of users before being introduced to a wider audience by WhatsApp.
WhatsApp’s Android Overhaul: Channel Alerts and Date Search Features Unveiled
As per the report, the recently introduced feature aims to enhance the experience for channel users by offering real-time information on the suspension status of their channel. Administrators can request an inspection of the ban using the Channel Alerts panel, and they can be notified of any infractions of WhatsApp’s regulations through this function. According to the report, channel owners should use the “channel alerts” feature found in the channel details screen to look for possible infractions. The addition of the channel alerts feature contributes to a heightened level of transparency on the platform.
WhatsApp is set to introduce two additional features on its Android app in the upcoming days. These include, a) concealing navigation labels and the top application bar while scrolling down the screen, and b) enabling users to search messages based on their dates.
According to the report, concealing navigation labels and the top application bar is expected to provide users with a broader view of the channels, chats, call logs, group chats, and community group chats. Simultaneously, the introduction of the ability to search chats by date is anticipated to enhance the efficiency and convenience of browsing chat history and locating specific messages.
In addition, WhatsApp has launched disappearing voice messages, enabling users to send voice notes/messages that can be played only once before automatically disappearing. This feature shares similarities with the “View Once” option introduced for videos and photos in 2021.
WhatsApp’s recent unveilings showcase a significant leap forward in user experience and functionality. The introduction of the Channel Alerts feature and upcoming enhancements like hidden navigation labels, date-based message search, and disappearing voice messages showcase the platform’s commitment. It aims to provide users with a more transparent, efficient, and dynamic messaging environment, aligning with evolving trends in digital communication.
