1. QHD is 2K

The smartphone misconception is that the 2K quality is far superior and is the same as QHD. Whereas, in reality, the 2K video quality is different from QHD, also better than the standard video quality. QHD is not what we call 2K resolution for the videos on your smartphone. QHD is Quad High Definition and is mostly seen on smart TVs and high-end monitors.

2K has a DCI standard of 2048 X 1080 that is the extension of the full HD. The QHD is the reference to the 3686400 pixels in comparison to 22111840 pixels of the 2K. This clearly shows that QHD has much more pixels than 2K, and hence better. So, if you find that 2K is being marketed in place of QHD, it is because a more significant number of the population does not know the difference.

2. USB-C is faster than Micro- USB

Another smartphone misconception is that USB-C, which is the latest development, is faster than other USB types. Ever since the transformation with the OnePlus phones, USB Type C replaced the micro USB. It is true that this is an improved connector than micro USB, but not likely the reason for the faster speed. Number of phones use the USB-C  port but still work on the old module of 2.0 protocol.

The latest protocol is USB 3.0, and since the standard in today’s phone is USB 2.0, it is most common to be found. Although the transfer speed for the USB 3.0 is 5000Mbps as compared to the USB 2.0 with 480Mbps. But all the smartphones with USB-C are not faster unless they use the latest USB protocol.

3. More RAM = Faster Phone

This is certainly not true; the processors make the phone function. However, nowhere it says that the more the number of processors, the faster the phone will work. Overall performance of the phone is not decided with more number of processors. Just like a Quad-Core Processor is said to be better than Octa-core processor in some cases, similarly, increasing the RAM will not help you perform tasks faster.

Over the years, we have seen that phones are favoured with increased RAM. But seldom we mention that the processors are behind, boosting the phone speed up. Therefore, it is not merely an increased RAM behind its fast speed.

4. IP Ratings make phones waterproof

IP Or Ingress Protection rating defines the International parameter of a metallic casing against exposure to dust, water etc. IP67 is more of the definition for the water and dust resistance of a device. If your phone comes with IP65, it means this can be left with a splash of water on it and still work correctly. Note that, if you keep the phone with the water droplets for a longer time, it may get inside the body, which is not good for the phone.

The phone, as shown in the commercials, are not put on the test and dipped in the water tubs. But it only denotes that if in case, it gets into a water-filled space, it can be saved from corrosion and such effects on the exterior. IP 68, however, is the best and this has been tested inside 1.5 mm of water for 30 minutes. So taking your phone along when going for a swim isn’t a good idea. As both a swimming pool and seawater consist of other chemicals in the water, which is not good for your phone.

5. More megapixels make a better camera

Well, just like other smartphone misconceptions, this one also largely prevails among the users. As today, we live in an era where one can shoot an entire movie on their iPhones; the cameras are undoubtedly excellent. But this alone does not make the above-said point right. We can see the Megapixels increasing with every new phone launch. The launch of the latest Xiaomi CC9 Pro makes a historical change as it comes equipped with the 108-megapixel camera. Shortly, a lot of smartphones will be seen powering higher numbers of megapixels for the camera.
