How to Set Up Screen Time for Kids on iPhone

Parents are more anxious about their child’s safety today. Whether it’s the ubiquitous presence of graphic images and videos, harmful websites with objectionable content, or sketchy apps and games with questionable track records, your kid is constantly exposed to significant dangers. When you combine these dangers with smartphone addiction, your duty as a responsible parent becomes even more important. The good news is that Apple has created a powerful parental control suite called “Screen Time” that you can use to protect your child from inappropriate information and keep track of their activities with the appropriate controls. This blog explains to its readers the various steps involved to set up screen time on iPhone.

What is Apple’s Screen Time Feature and How Does It Work?

Screen-Time

Screen Time, which was introduced in iOS 12 , is intended to provide you with precise information on your device usage. It gives a better approach to track progress and identify areas that require immediate attention with fully customized weekly reports. Apple allows you to establish a distinct Screen Time profile for your child on your iPhone and iPad for added management. You can even designate another family member as a parent/guardian to make it easier to monitor your child’s device usage.

As a guardian, you may establish daily time limits for different app categories such as entertainment, education, games, and more, as well as build a unique plan for time away from the screen. It can go a long way toward assisting your child in overcoming his or her iPhone addiction. Screen Time also lets you set up a solid content and privacy restriction to keep filthy stuff at bay. With the newly launched Messages safety feature, you can establish communication boundaries to ensure your child doesn’t communicate with strangers and even impose restrictions on nude images and videos.

However, there seems to be no way to recover the lost password. To change your Screen Time passcode on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, follow these steps: 1. Ensure your device is updated to the latest version. If not, it should be at least iOS 13.4 or iPadOS 13.4 or later. 2. Go to Settings > Screen Time. 3. Tap Change Screen Time Passcode > then tap Change Screen Time Passcode again. 4. Tap Forgot Passcode? 5. Next, enter your Apple ID and password used to set up Screen Time passcode on your device. 6. Finally, enter a new Screen Time passcode, and re-enter it to confirm. On a Mac 1. Ensure your Mac is updated to macOS Catalina 10.15.4 or later. 2. Click the Apple menu > System Preferences > Screen Time. 3. Go to Options in the lower-left corner > click Change Passcode > click Forgot Passcode. 4. Enter the Apple ID and password* you used to set up the Screen Time passcode. 5. Up next, enter the new Screen Time passcode > re-enter it to confirm. The above steps will help reset the Screen Time passcode. Note: If you have Share Across Devices enabled, the new Screen Time passcode will automatically update on those devices after you reset it. However, if you still have issues resetting your Screen Time passcode, you can contact Apple Support – at https://support.apple.com/contact. Additional Tip: If you’re using Family Sharing to manage a child’s account, passcode reset options won’t be available on their device. You will need to use the family organizer’s device to reset the Screen Time passcode for your child.
