All The Possible Reasons Why Your WiFi Is Not Working

Just as air is important to stay alive, we can’t just think of our lives without the internet. But, there are times when there are connectivity issues and one of the most common issues that completely bowls a user over is WiFi not working. Wondering how it happened? Here are some of the probable reasons and ways through which you can get rid of this problem when your WiFi has no internet access.

Faulty Driver

One of the reasons why your WiFi is not working is maybe because of a faulty driver. To be more precise, you may be required to reinstall WiFi driver in your system. There are two ways this can be done.

  • You Can Do It Manually By Following This Path –

Right-click on the Start menu > Click on Device Manager > expand Network Adapters drop down > right-click on your adapter and select Properties >Now, click the Driver tab

You can choose to either Update Driver or Roll Back Driver.

  • You Can Choose To Install A Driver Updater Tool –

Tools like Advanced Driver Updater that easily update all your missing drivers in your system. This utility tool is compatible with all Windows OS’ versions and finds the latest driver on the internet.

Consider Rebooting Your Modem And Router

A simple reboot mostly fixes almost any connectivity issues such as WiFi not working. All you need to do is unplug your router and modem from the main power socket. After a minute or so re plug both your router and modem. You may also see an increase in speed with this solution.

Also, check if you have forgotten to turn on your WiFi. Until and unless you have enabled WiFi, it won’t get connected to a network

Enable and Disable WiFi If You See WiFi Not Working

By simply enabling and disabling your wireless connection, you can fix WiFi not connecting. For this –

  1. Right-Click on WiFi icon (small radar symbol)
  2. Open Network & Sharing settings
  3. Click on Change adapter settings/options
  4.  Right-click on the wireless connection and choose Disable

Forget Your Network

Forgetting the network all together is a very common way to fix WiFi not connecting. Again this step works most of the time. The reason why it is recommended that you forget your WiFi networks on your system is that though you might not be using other networks, but their data is cluttering on your system. Follow the steps mentioned below –

  1. Open start menu and then click on Settings (the cog icon)
  2. Locate Network & Internet and click on it
  3. From the menu that appears choose WiFi. You will find it ion left-hand side
  4. Locate your network and click on forget

Uninstall The Network Adapter

If you are unable to establish a connection with your network, the reason could faulty adapter. You might have to uninstall the adapter once and then Windows will reinstall this driver automatically

  1. Press Windows key +X and then click on Windows Device Manager
  2. Now locate Network adapters option and click on the drop down
  3. Select your desired network adapter and right-click on it. Then click on Uninstall device
  4. Restart your PC and the driver for the adapter will be automatically installed by Windows.

Rollback To The Previous Driver If WiFi Has No Internet Access

Roll back driver - or Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting

If you have noticed that Windows is unable to connect to a network or WiFi keeps disconnecting it could be that a recent driver update has caused some damage. In that case you might consider rolling back to the previous version of that driver.

After you have rolled back, restart your PC.  Follow these steps to access roll back driver option –

  1. Press Windows +X button and go to Device Manager
  2. Choose the driver that you wish to roll back and click on the drop down
  3. Select driver and right-click on it and choose properties
  4. Select driver tab and locate Rollback option
