How To Show Battery Percentage On iPhone XR And Other iPhones?

Apple has been making amazing iPhones since the advent of smartphones, and with iPhone X, it introduced the notch feature in iPhones. But many did not realize that to get the smart notch feature, Apple sacrificed the battery percentage indicator. All the iPhone variants after iPhone 8, namely iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR lack the option in the settings to enable the battery percentage indicator probably due to lack of space.

I personally own an iPhone XR and was flabbergasted after I found out that there was no way to find the current percentage of battery. I had to guess how long my iPhone would run just by looking at the tiny black and white boxes onside the battery icon. After some research, I finally got a few ways to show battery percentage on iPhone XR and rest assured that these methods will work on all iPhone’s models, that were introduced after the iPhone 8.

Before you read the methods to show battery percentage on iPhone XR, it is essential to note that these methods will help you to see the current status of your battery only. There is no way to display the battery percentage permanently on the screen in case of iPhones with a notch display.

To view the current battery percentage, follow these steps:

Method 1: Control Centre

Step 1. Swipe down from the top right on your iPhone XR screen and open the Control Centre.

Step 2. The top-right corner will indicate the current battery percentage.

Thus, with just one swipe, you can view the current iPhone XR battery percentage.

Method 2: Ask Siri

Many of us forget that our iPhones are equipped with a powerful smart assistant, Siri.

Step 1. Launch Siri.

Step 2. Ask Siri, “What is the battery percentage?” Siri will tell you, and even display the Battery percentage of iPhone XR on the screen.

Method 3: Add a widget

Adding a widget is another method to view the battery percentage on iPhone XR.

Step 1. Access the Today View, which is the first page of the iPhone XR home screen.

Step 2. Check the Battery Widget for the percentage. This widget not only displays the current status of the iPhone battery percentage but also shows battery related information about other devices connected to your iPhone, such as AirPods.

Note: If you don’t have the Battery widget enabled, then scroll to the bottom of the Today View screen and then tap on Edit. A list of all the available widgets will be displayed on the screen. Locate the Batteries widget and tap on the + sign next to it. The batteries widget will be added to your Today View screen.

Method 4: Connect the charging cable

Another way to know the current battery percentage on iPhone XR is when you connect the device with a charging cable. The battery percentage will appear on the top-right corner for a few seconds. This is true for all iPhone models with a notch including iPhone X, iPhone XS, and Phone XS Max.

The bottom line: How To Show Battery Percentage In iPhone XR

Although displaying the battery percentage on the iPhone XR screen would have been an important feature, but Apple decided to let it go. However, the above methods can help you get the current status of your battery’s percentage to help you choose how long you can go on without juicing your phone. The blame for this loss goes to the notch display, which still shows the time, Wi-Fi connectivity, cellular signal and battery remaining icon all jam-packed on the right side. Many other icons that were displayed previously have lost their rights to appear in the top status bar.

An OS update from Apple can replace the current battery icon comprising of the black and white boxes with a number denoting the percentage. The latest iOS 13 update has not changed the battery status yet. There is nothing much we can do except wait until Apple realizes the importance of permanently displaying the battery percentage on the iPhone XR screen.
