How To Fix Windows 10 Store Problems

The Windows Store is the official online marketplace to get Microsoft applications on your computer. Sometimes, you may face problems while using the Store or with the apps there. Today, we’re going to suggest 5 best ways to fix Windows 10 Store problems:

1.  Troubleshooter:

The foremost step to solve any problem is to give the troubleshooter a chance to fix. Microsoft offers a troubleshooter that scans and detects any problem that may prevent Windows Store from working correctly. Then, if possible, it automatically fixes them.

You can download the troubleshooter for free from the official website of Microsoft. You need to download the specific troubleshooter depending on the version of your operating system.

Troubleshooter

Simply open the file with Diagnostics Troubleshooting Wizard, follow the wizard step-by-step and click Next to progress through the stages.

If the problem is detected, the troubleshooter tries to resolve it using available resources.

2.  Store Cache:

Whether it’s a smartphone or a computer, getting rid of caches always helps. Dumping the caches of the Store may help in resolving the issues with installing and updating apps. It’s a minute’s job and will be a piece of cake even for novice users.

You need to press Windows key with the letter R (Windows + R) to open the Run window, type wsreset.exe and click on OK. A blank Command Prompt would open – this is the cleaning time. After about ten seconds the black window closes and the Store opens automatically; there you go.

3.  Edit the Registry:

This option works when you’re getting a connection error while launching the Windows Store, updating and installing the app. If you face any connection error, you must consider heading to Registry. Here, please follow the step carefully as one incorrect edit in Registry may lead to further problems.

You need to open the Run (Windows key + R) and type regedit and click on OK. You can see the Registry of your computer, navigate into the below path using the folders in the left:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles

Edit the Registry

Do a right click on Profiles, select Permissions and click on Advanced. Check the box against ‘Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object’ and click OK. Once done, restart the system, hopefully the issue is fixed.

4.  Reset Windows Update components:

If the problem still persists, you should try resetting the Windows Update components. Fortunately, you can use the troubleshooter for the same by downloading it directly from Microsoft Support Page. Make sure to download the right version depending on the operating system.

Reset Windows Update components

Once the troubleshooter is downloaded, launch the program and click Next to go through the process. It must automatically detect and fix any issue, if possible.

5. Re-register the Windows Store:

As the Windows Store can’t be uninstalled, re-registering it on your system seems just next to it. You need to perform a system search for the term: powershell (a scripting environment used to automate tasks) right click on the result and select Run as Administrator.

If you’re using Windows 10, type the following and then press Enter:

& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + ‘\AppxManifest.xml’ ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}

Re-register the Windows Store

When you’re done, close PowerShell and open the Windows Store app, the problem should be resolved.

Overall, fixing Windows 10 Store problems may look slightly thorny, but it is quite simple in practice. To be on a safer side, We recommend you to create a system restore point before applying any of these changes. In case you find it difficult to follow, consider calling a reliable technical support provider.
