Files Go: Android’s Answer To AirDrop

When it comes to file managing and sharing apps, Android users had no option but to use third-party apps till now. Check Play Store and you will find it flooded with third-party files managing and sharing apps. Of course, not only does that further add to confusion but also raises doubts on what to trust.  Unfortunately, in most of these cases, one needs to pay for good apps, or tolerate advertisements in free versions.

Finally! the search is over for the Android users, with the launch of Files Go, a File Manager app by Google. The app, will not only help users to manage the stored files in their Android device but also allow sharing them with much ease.

The UI of the app is user friendly, with two tabs at the bottom. One to manage files and other to transfer them, that too without internet connection.

When you first launch the app, it will scan your device memory and show the total amount of memory use.

Below that will be countless number of cards for application cache, unused apps, large files, downloaded files, duplicate files and Junk media. You can dismiss these cards by swiping them right.

The most important feature of this app is that it can remove duplicate files from your device. Also, since it seems to use exact match md5 technology, you can rely upon the duplicate results and can delete without a second thought.

Coming to file transfer section, tap on Files tab to send any file, audio clip, document file or video file.

Settings section of the app offers the option to set reminder when storage is getting low. Also, you can set alert for files/media files which take too much space on your device.

Moreover, if you haven’t used an app for more than 30 days, you will be alerted by the app.

In case you can’t wait to download, then you can install its beta version from Apk Mirror, as Google has not yet provided any specific date of its availability on Play Store.
