Create Undeletable Folder Using Command Prompt in Windows 10

Data loss in this growing digital world is the most common thing and it’s even more annoying when it happens accidentally.

Suppose while maintaining the storage or while going through your data, you accidentally deleted the folder using Shift + Delete. This would delete the folder permanently and it cannot be restored from the Recycle Bin. Now what? You lost all your valuable data in mere seconds.

Do not worry anymore! As this article will tell you about how to create folders that are undeletable and cannot be deleted even if you try. Read the steps given below to create your own undeletable folder with these simple steps on your system:

Step 1: Open the Command Prompt by typing ‘cmd’ in the search bar of Windows or by just going to the start option.

Note: Undeletable folders can be only created in the external drives that are non-rooted. For example: the folder can only be created in D, E, F, and G drives. C drive is the Windows drive where all the system files are contained so we can’t use C drive for this purpose.

Step 2: Next, you have to type E: in command prompt to access the E drive. You can also write D:, F:, and G: according to your convenience.

Step 3: Type md con\

This step will create the name ‘con’ of the folder. Here, ‘md’ stands for make directory that is an instruction to the Windows Command Prompt.

Step 4: Once you are done typing, press Enter.

As soon as you press the enter key, go to E drive and check that the folder named ‘con’ is appearing on the window. This folder is an undeletable folder.

Step 4: After clicking Edit, a new box will open up titled ‘Permissions for con’. Now click ‘Add’ button written below Group or user names. This step is to add a group or username.

Step 5: The new dialog box will appear on your screen. In the ‘Enter the object name to select’, type ‘Everyone’ and click ‘OK’.

Step 6: this step will redirect you to the security tab. Now it says Permission for everyone, where you have to tick on ‘Deny’ option for ‘Full control’. Click OK.

Make sure you have selected Everyone option from the list given.

There are files that are important for us, and we don’t want them to be deleted ever. So, use the above given steps to create the undeletable folder and save your data and files.

Bonus Tip

If you have deleted the files months back and you want to recover those files, it can happen. How?

It’s a myth that the files are permanently deleted from your system. Files can be recovered from the hard disk, if not many read and write operations were performed on it.

This restoration process can be done using Advanced Disk Recovery.

Advanced Disk Recovery is a software with simple and interactive interface that scans on your drive to find and recover deleted files.

  • It can recover any type of data, regardless of file format, including photos, videos, documents and zipped/compressed folders.
  • This software not only recovers deleted files in computers but is also capable of recovering data from external hard drives and portable flash drives also.
  • In case of an emergency you can also pause and save your scan session that can be resumed anytime later, even after system restart.

You can download Advanced Disk Recovery from the given link below.
