Introducing Voice Chat on Bing for An Immersive Desktop Experience

Microsoft Bing has recently introduced voice chat functionality for desktops, enabling users to engage in conversations with the AI tool directly from their personal computers.

Back in February, Microsoft unveiled its AI-powered chatbot, Bing, which impressed users with its remarkable image creation capabilities. The exciting news is that you can now engage in conversations with Bing right from your desktop! Before, this privilege was only available through the Bing mobile app on your phone. With this feature, the necessity of typing when seeking information from Bing Chat on PCs will be completely eliminated.

Furthermore, the company has implemented enhanced conversational abilities for Bing. According to Microsoft, Bing has undergone major upgrades that allows it to have more organic discussions with users. You may now ask Bing more complex questions and get more thorough answers.

At present, the voice chat feature of Bing supports five languages: English, French, Mandarin, Japanese, and German. However, the company has announced its plans to incorporate additional languages shortly. Additionally, Bing AI Chat will feature text-to-speech responses, enabling the chatbot to answer your questions in its own unique voice.

How to Test This New Update?

Step 1: Open Microsoft Edge and log in with your Microsoft account, if you haven’t already.

Step 2: Go to www.bing.com and click on the Microphone icon.

Step 3: Moving on, simply ask your question in the microphone. Then, patiently await Bing to process your inquiry and provide a prompt response.

Shortly after announcing that Cortana for Windows would be discontinued, the introduction of voice mode to Bing Chat on the desktop is a strategic move by the company. While Cortana offered voice command functionalities for tasks like creating reminders, and opening applications, setting timers, Microsoft is now directing users towards Bing and its AI-powered Copilot, which is being developed as a capable successor and will be integrated into Windows 11.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has once again raised the turn limit for Bing Chat, allowing users to engage in up to 30 chats/sessions and a total of 300 chats/day.
