8 Tweaks To Make on Your New Windows 10 PC/Laptop Settings

So, you just got your new laptop? What next? Windows 10 has just released the Spring Creators update which is surprisingly full of useful features. This latest update by Windows is full of hidden gems, privacy settings, and a fresh new coat of paint. But before you proceed further, here are a few  tweaks you can make in settings right away when you’re setting up your new Windows 10 laptop or PC.

Let’s cut to the chase and discuss about each one of setting customization in detail.

1. Stay up to date with Latest Updates

Like they say, first things first! If you’ve got a new laptop then there’s a huge possibility that it is already loaded with latest Windows version. But by any chance if it’s running on older version you can check for updates via Settings. Open Start menu and then tap the gear icon to access Settings. Head on to Update & Security > Windows Update and then tap the Check for updates button.

2. Enable System Restore

Creating a restore point is always helpful so that you don’t lose all your data in case of any mishap. To create a restore point on Windows 10, open Start menu and type “Restore Point”. Among the various options that appear on the menu, tap on “Create a Restore point”.  A new System Protection window will open on the screen. Pick any drive where all your important data is say C: or D: drive and then hit the “Configure” button. Also, enable the “Turn on System Protection” radio button and then select how much disk space you want to preserve for System Restore.

This is one useful feature which comes along with Windows 10 Spring Creators update. With Focus Assist you can create priority lists so that you don’t get interrupted with unwanted notifications while you’re working on something important or enjoying your favorite game. To enable Focus assist head on to Settings > System > Focus assist.

4. Enable Nearby Sharing

Through Nearby Sharing you can easily share files and data with nearby devices. To start sharing data between devices head on to Settings > System > Shared experiences. Once you’ve enabled Nearby Sharing then manage with which device you want to share data by either selecting “My Devices Only” or “Everyone nearby”.

5 . Pick your Default Web Browser

Not a big fan of Microsoft Edge browser? To customize default browser settings head on to Settings > Apps > Default apps and then pick any browser which you wish to set as default browser.

6. Turn ON Night Light

Don’t wish to strain your eyes while working late night? Switch to warmer display colors to get a better good night sleep. Head to Settings > System > Display and toggle on Night light.

Like whether you want your device to only install apps from Windows Store or any outside source as well. To control app settings head on to Settings > Apps > Apps & features and you can choose from which source you want to permit your device to install apps.
