In a recent announcement, Google revealed that it has expanded its offerings on YouTube Music by adding podcasts to the web version and the Android & iOS app. This new feature is currently available only in the United States. With this update, users who enjoy listening to podcasts on the YouTube app can now seamlessly switch to YouTube Music and continue their listening experience without any interruptions.
In a bid to catch up with rivals who stream music in the ever-growing podcast space, YouTube Music has introduced a dedicated podcast experience to its platform. This move comes after Google had earlier teased this addition in February. Kai Chuk, the Director of Podcasting at YouTube then revealed that YouTube Music would prioritize providing an audio-first podcast experience.
With this latest announcement yesterday, YouTube Music has finally delivered on that promise.
Listen Podcasts on YouTube Music App
The latest update will allow users to listen to podcasts for free in the background. YouTube Music has added a new podcast tab to its app, providing users with access to shows that were previously restricted to the YouTube app. With the help of this new function, users of YouTube Music can now explore a range of podcasts and even switch between their audio and video forms.
“This podcast listening experience is different from our music listening experience where you need a Premium or Music Premium subscription to enjoy some of these features. This new podcast listening experience complements the podcast video experience on YouTube.” as per a blog post by the company.
Users of YouTube Music can now access podcasts on the app without needing a YouTube Premium subscription. This feature is available to all users of the platform. YouTube Music has clarified that even if a user has a YouTube Premium subscription and accesses podcasts through the app, they may still encounter sponsorship messages and host-read endorsements while enjoying podcasts.

Worldwide Availability of YouTube Podcasts
Podcasts are now only available to US subscribers of YouTube Music, but the firm has plans to soon make them available in other nations as well. Users can enjoy this feature on the YouTube Music app, which is available on Android, iOS, and the web.
