Well, as announced last month that Instagram will be bringing new ways to connect and share more posts and stories with your friends & family with new Instagram features.

Seems like Instagram is much quicker than we can think of. On June 26^th, Instagram recently rolled out an update with the features they announced last month.

This update includes all the features that were promised by Instagram, which includes Video Chat in Instagram Direct, Topic Channels on Explore and New Camera Effects. The update is available now for both Android and iOS users.

Let’s talk about each Instagram feature that just rolled out in new Instagram update in detail and how to use them.

1. Group Video Chat

Yes, you heard it right. Now Instagram allows you to video chat with your friends. With this Instagram feature, from Instagram Direct, you can directly make a call to your friend or even a group of friends, which gives you the real-time experience.

Not only this, while on the video chat, you can do multitasking on Instagram as well. Where you can send messages and photos in Instagram Direct, surf feed, and can even post a story.

For group video chat, this feature is only limited to 4 people. Which means that at one time, only 4 people will be able to do group video chat.

How To Use Instagram Video Chat?

To Video Chat on Instagram Direct, follow the steps given below:

1. Open Instagram App.
2. Go to your Instagram Direct Inbox.
3. Now, open any chat thread.
4. After this, from top right corner, click on the new camera icon.

By this, your friends’ phone will receive a call and will get to know that you are available for video chat.

You can even join the group video chat in between. You will get to know about an ongoing video chat by the camera icon, as it will turn blue. For joining in, you just have to press the camera icon and you will be connected to the ongoing call.

2. New Design and Topics on Explore

According to Instagram, every day, around 200 million users use Explore to discover new ideas and interests. This Instagram feature will give users the utmost opportunity to discover their interests and to showcase their innovations as well.

With Topic channels on Explore, Instagram will direct you to the content you choose, be it humor, TV & Movies, Style, Music and many more.

This Instagram feature can be used directly by going to Explore section, where you will see a personalized tray of channels. This starts from a ‘For You’ channel, which shows you the feed of your interest and likes. In Explore, you can select the category of your choice or particular channel from the categories given.

Users can even mute the channels. For this they just have to long press on the channel, and choose ‘Mute’ from the context menu. This will place the muted channel at the last position in tray, from where you can unmute the channel later.

3. Ariana Grande Designed Camera Effects and More

This Instagram feature from the latest Instagram update gives you more camera effects, to beautify your pictures. Instagram has released new camera effects designer by Ariana Grande and many more effects like Buzzfeed, Liza Koshy, Baby Ariel and NBA.

To use these camera effects on Instagram, you need to first follow the respective accounts of these features. For example, if you want to use NBA camera effect then you first need to follow NBA’s official account.
