You Will Soon Be Able To Lock WhatsApp Individual Chats: Here is How

WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature enabling users to secure their private conversations by implementing a chat lock option.

“According to a recent report released by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp, which Meta owns, is said to be developing new functionality enabling its users to safeguard their private conversations by locking them and keeping them concealed from prying eyes.”

As per the report, WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new feature allowing its users to secure specific chats by setting a passcode or using their fingerprint. By doing so, users will be able to enhance the privacy of their WhatsApp chats and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information. The feature will reportedly provide users with the ability to lock their most confidential conversations directly from the chat’s contact or group information.

If an unauthorized person attempts to gain access to a locked WhatsApp chat multiple times and fails the authentication process, they will have to erase the chat to gain entry. This additional security measure reinforces user privacy and prevents media shared with private chats from being automatically saved to the phone gallery, thus keeping it out of reach of prying eyes.

Availability Of This New Feature

Beta users currently have access to the chat locking feature for testing purposes. The upcoming version of the WhatsApp application will include the chat locking feature, which was observed in the most recent edition of the WhatsApp Beta for Android (v2.23.8.2).
