WABetaInfo identified the latest passkey addition within WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.20.4, and it’s currently being deployed to beta users as of Tuesday.

WhatsApp was first observed exploring passkey authentication back in early August. More than a month later, the company is gradually introducing passkey support to a select group of beta testers.

The inclusion of passkey support in WhatsApp allows you to access your account by utilizing your fingerprint, facial recognition, or your device’s screen lock PIN/pattern. This functionality proves particularly useful when transitioning to new devices and configuring WhatsApp on them.
As per WABetaInfo’s report, you should locate the passkeys option within the WhatsApp Settings menu under the ‘Account’ section if this feature is accessible for your account. It’s essential to remember that in order to access this feature, you must be using the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.23.20.4.
WhatsApp’s explanation of passkeys specifies that they are stored within the Google Password Manager. However, if your chosen password manager supports passwordless login, you have the flexibility to keep your WhatsApp passkey in it.
