This new functionality empowers individuals to conveniently share short video clips, with a maximum duration of 60 seconds, directly through WhatsApp. This exciting feature offers a revamped approach to communication, empowering individuals with a method to express themselves through video messages.
WhatsApp’s Short Video Messaging Feature
WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is granting select beta testers the exciting opportunity to utilize video messaging after installing the latest updates. For iOS users, this includes the WhatsApp beta version 23.12.0.71, accessible through the TestFlight app. Meanwhile, Android users can experience this feature by updating to the WhatsApp beta version 2.23.13.4, available on the Google Play Store.
To determine whether the feature to record video messages is enabled for your WhatsApp account, there is a simple and convenient method. Just tap the microphone button located in the chat bar of any conversation. If the icon seamlessly transforms into a video camera button, it’s an indication that you can already start recording and sharing video messages right away.
When sending or receiving a video message on WhatsApp, it’s important to note that in order to listen to the audio, you need to enlarge the video. This can be done by simply tapping on the video once. Additionally, it’s advisable to inform the recipient to update their WhatsApp version to ensure they can successfully receive and view your video messages.
An important aspect to highlight is that video messages sent through WhatsApp are always protected by end-to-end encryption. This means that these messages remain confidential and inaccessible to anyone outside the conversation, including WhatsApp itself. It’s worth mentioning that, unlike other types of messages, video messages cannot be directly forwarded within the app. However, users can still preserve them by utilizing screen recording methods, as video messages are not sent using the view once mode.
