What To Expect In New MacBook Pro 2023?

MacBook Pro 2023

Months of speculation by experts have finally come to an end after Apple announced two new MacBooks with M2 chips.  However, let me warn you, these laptops do not differ much from their M1 predecessors except for the fact that they have more powerful M2 chips. This was duly expected because the M1 MacBooks had already gone through a huge change as compared to the previous MacBooks and another major seemed unlikely within a span of 365 days. This means that the new M2 MacBooks have a similar port arrangement, identical mini-LED display, and matching flat-edged design.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro will contain the latest M2 Pro chip while the 16-inch version will be embedded with the M2 Max chip.

Is The M2 Chip Really More Powerful Than M1?

M2 Chip

It has been revealed by anonymous sources that the M2 chip has only a minor performance upgrade as compared to the M1 chip. Although the Silicon chips developed by Apple are more powerful and efficient than Intel. M1 users would not find much difference if they upgraded to the new M2 chip MacBook. But as per the official statements made by Apple, the  M2 Pro chip was designed with a 5-nanometer processor. This offers faster image rendering in Adobe Photoshop up to 40% more than that of its predecessor. The unified memory amounts to 32GB and the configuration can support up to 12 CPU and 19 GPU cores.

The M2 Max with 67 Billion Transistors and 96 GB unified memory might be one of the most powerful chips out there. It supports only 12 CPU cores just like the M2 Pro but doubles the GPU cores amounting to 38 in total. The increased support for GPU cores makes Colour grading 30% faster in DaVinci Resolve and even the rendering effects are 30% faster than the M1 max chip.
