Microsoft Introduces a new and cheaper plan for Cloud Storage within its Microsoft 365 bundle. This cost-friendly plan will be available for subscription from January 30th, 2023. It will be known as the Basic plan which offers 100 GB of OneDrive storage and Outlook Email. There are reports of adding access to the support experts on Microsoft 365 and Windows 11. All this for a mere cost of $1.99 per month and if you opt for the yearly subscription, it comes to only $19.99 instead of $23.88.
Additionally, “Advanced Security Features” including ransomware recovery and password-protected sharing links in OneDrive will be made available to Microsoft 365 Basic plan subscribers in the upcoming months.

Will The Free Microsoft 365 Plan Cease To Exist?
The free Microsoft 365 tier will continue to exist, which is worth noting. The advantages it provides now, such as access to the web-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, OneDrive, Clipchamp, and more, are still available, along with 5 GB of cloud storage.
Beginning January 30, Microsoft 365 Basic will also be made available to current OneDrive 100 GB members. According to Microsoft. Microsoft 365 Personal, on the other hand, will continue to cost $6.99 per month or $69.99 annually.
Microsoft Basic Plan: A Comparison
Pricing-wise, Microsoft 365 Basic outperforms Google Workspace, a direct competitor, whose Individual plan begins at $9.99 per month for 1 TB of storage, expert support, and Google’s essential productivity apps (e.g. Google Drive, Meet, and Gmail). It is also less expensive than Zoho’s Standard Workplace plan, which has a storage cap of 10 GB and costs $3 per user per month when paid annually.
