Imagine you have been saving your progress in Mortal Kombat X, God of War, League of Legends, etc, or have saved some video or audio files. And, one day, due to some reason it’s all gone. Your years of legacy, and years of content (some of which you may not get now) is gone. Or, not?
That’s what this post is for. Here we are going to tell you how you can recover lost or deleted PSP game files or other content.
Reasons Why You May Lose PSP Files
- Losing files when copying and pasting files from one device to PSP.
- Using PSP memory sticks on various operating systems which may lead to data corruption.
- Accidentally formatting data from PSP memory stick.
- Malware attacks can also lead to data corruption or data loss.
- Improper handling or usage of PSP memory sticks.
How To Retrieve Lost PSP Files?
Method No. 1 – Recover From Backup
A backup often saves you from the worst situations. So, if you have saved a copy of your games on a PC or in a drive, then you can recover the PSP game file from an existing backup.
Method No. 2 – Recover Lost PSP Files Using Data Recovery Software
A data recovery tool is probably the safest way to recover lost PSP files. For instance, Photos Recovery is one of the best file recovery tools with which you can recover or retrieve lost PSP files –
Step 1 – Download, install and run Photos Recovery
Step 2 – Connect your PSP memory stick to a Windows PC. It should show up in the Removable Drive section.
Step 3 – Launch the application and select the drive. Choose the mode of scan and click on the Start Scan button that you can see at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4 – On the left-hand side, you will be able to see the lost files and you can preview them on the right-hand side.
Step 5 – Select the files that you want to recover and then click on the Recover button.
Step 6 – Specify the location where you want to save the file.
Method No. 3 – Assign A New Drive Letter
If you are unable to see the drive letter of your PSP memory stick, it is possible that it is used by some other drive. In that case, you can try assigning a new letter by following the steps mentioned below –
Step 1 – Connect the memory stick to your PC.
Step 2 – Open the Run dialog box by pressing Windows + R and then type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter.
Step 3 – Locate the drive to which you want to assign the letter. Right-click on it and select Change Drive Letter and Paths.
Step 4 – From the dialog box, click on Change.
Step 5 – Click on Assign and then click on OK.
Step 6 – Disconnect your memory stick and restart your computer.
Bonus Tip – Reinstall Driver
While this is not a direct way to retrieve lost files, however, if you are unable to access the PSP memory stick on your computer, it could be that its drivers have either become outdated or are corrupted. Here you can reinstall drivers. To do that you can either manually update drivers, or use an easier way of automatically updating drivers with a driver updater tool.
Wrapping Up
Now that you have some ways in which you can recover lost or deleted PSP files, go ahead and restore game files or any other files for that matter. We’d again like to reinstate that in a situation where it looks nearly impossible to retrieve files, a tool like Photos Recovery can be of great help.
