How to Prevent Facebook Videos from Automatically Playing Sound

Facebook always tries to make things easier for its user by introducing new features. However sometimes, these features become an annoyance for users forcing them to regret Zuckerberg’s decisions. One of such annoyances is certainly autoplay videos on Facebook timeline that burst without warning and can attract unwanted attention, when you simply wanted to check your Facebook account.

Facebook videos automatically start playing with sound while scrolling through the news feed. That means that if you haven’t put your phone on silent mode then the sound will keep on fading in and out, while you scroll through your news feed.

Thankfully, Facebook has provided you with two options to stop the videos from automatically playing the sound. In method 1 you have to make certain changes in the settings of the app. However, in method 2 just a single tap will do the trick for you. Method 1:

1. Open Facebook app on your phone and tap on the menu icon(three horizontal line) located at the top right corner of the app.
   
2. Now scroll down to Help and Settings option, and then tap on App Settings.
   
3. Among the various options you find, tap on toggle “Video in News Feed Start With Sound” to disable it.
   

Now whenever you use your Facebook app, your video will play but without any sound.

Method 2:

As stated earlier this method is quite simple as compared to the previous one. The only thing you have to do is to tap on the volume icon at the bottom left corner of the video. This will not only mute the current video but also mute all subsequent videos that appear on your news feed. In case you wish to watch any video, simply tap again on the volume icon to unmute. However, please note that unmuting any video will again result in unmuting all the following videos.
