Thank you! This worked for me. May I suggest a slight addition to your instructions? When you say “a simple restart” include “of your phone”? I tried restarting the app but that didn’t work, restarting the phone did. I’m off to check out your YT channel.

Is there any way to stop the updates? As it stands now, when Android decides that it’s time for another update, the phone cannot be used until it is done. Typically, after the update, the system reverts to default, which includes killing the alarm. I therefore cannot rely upon my phone alarm and have therefore brought my timed coffee pot into my bedroom so something will wake me up on time. Stupid!

Hello William, Before we explain how to stop auto-updates, please note to keep your phone secure and updated it’s sensible to keep apps and software regularly updated. However, since you are facing problem due to automatic updates, follow these steps to disable auto-updates. 1. Go to your Android phone Settings. 2. Tap Software Update > tap the gear cog. 3. Tap auto download & install > Do not allow. This will disable automatic updates so in the future, you’ll need to install them manually. In addition to this, if the problem is only with the Alarm you can use a clock app.
