After HD Photos, WhatsApp Introduced HD Video Sharing As Well

Following the recent rollout of HD photo sharing earlier this month, WhatsApp now introduces another enhancement – the capability to share HD videos. Like sending and receiving high-quality images, WhatsApp now empowers users to share videos in crisp high definition. It’s important to note that the video quality, while improved, remains capped at 720p.

WhatsApp just reaffirmed that it’s in the process of introducing the option for users on both Android and iOS to send and receive high-definition videos. The procedure mirrors what we’ve observed with HD photo sharing.

Let us have a look at it.

Send & Receive HD Photos As Well As HD Videos on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is well-known for its practice of transmitting photographs with extreme compression. Users have been forced to look for alternative platforms to transfer full-sized photographs as a result.

However, with this recent update, the messaging platform has effectively eliminated this limitation. The newest iteration of WhatsApp introduces a fresh feature, allowing users to send photos at ‘HD’ resolution.

Follow these steps to send HD photos  –

Access WhatsApp and open the chat where you intend to send a photo. Then, tap the attachment icon (resembling a paperclip) and opt for the desired image to send.

The new HD button is located at the top of the photo-sharing screen along with other image-editing options like rotation and cropping. Just tap the HD option to share your image in high definition.

And if we talk about videos, the process of sharing videos in HD closely mirrors the steps for sharing photos in high definition. Much like the process of sending high-definition images, the HD video functionality can be activated just before sharing a video. Previously restricted to 480p, videos on the platform can now be enhanced to 720p by enabling this option.

For those aiming to send videos in high definition, simply press the ‘HD’ button located at the screen’s upper section while uploading a video. This action will unveil the choice to share the video in ‘HD Quality,’ alongside the corresponding file size details.  Once the HD video is sent, the recipient sees a watermark labeled “HD” directly on the video, indicating that it’s shared in high definition.

This advancement enables users to send and receive videos in high definition, akin to the process of sharing high-quality images. These recent updates mark a significant stride in multimedia sharing, catering to the demand for improved quality in both images and videos. This latest enhancement, in conjunction with the existing features, showcases the platform’s dedication to enriching the user experience on a global scale.
