The exact release date for this mysterious feature remains uncertain. However, WABetaInfo indicates that it is currently under development and is anticipated to become accessible in a “future update.”

A recent release of the WhatsApp for Android beta update (version 2.23.19.8) reportedly introduces a fresh element known as “Third-party chats” within the application.
This development follows closely on the heels of the European Commission’s designation of six companies, including Meta, Microsoft, Alphabet, and others, as designated gatekeepers. These companies have been granted a maximum of six months to adhere to the EU’s newly established DMA (Digital Markets Act). Failure to comply with these regulations could result in substantial fines imposed on these companies.

As per the Digital Markets Act (DMA), gatekeepers are companies with significant influence in the internal market. They achieve this by controlling crucial resources or infrastructure, collecting and using data, or promoting their services and products. The DMA mandates that gatekeepers must adhere to a range of requirements, which include:
- Allowing users to uninstall the installed apps.
- Providing third-party developers with access to their data.
- Facilitating an easier process for users to transition between various messaging applications.

These companies are allotted a six-month window to conform to the regulations outlined in the Digital Markets Act, and Meta has already initiated the compliance process. Consequently, users will have the capability to exchange messages across various messaging platforms, regardless of the particular platform they are using.
