Windows 10 Features Most Users Failed To Notice

Windows came in with a lot of features and has been constantly introducing a lot more. One can’t possibly know about them all, due to which a lot of incredible features are failed to be noticed.

Here, in this post, we will talk about some of the overlooked features which are not generally popular.

Feature No 1: Virtual Desktops

If you always have to work with a lot of tabs open, it’s best to use Virtual desktop in Windows 10. It is one of the features of Windows 10 that we didn’t observe or use normally.

This feature helps improve your productivity by providing sandbox environment to run certain apps. To use the feature, you need to press Windows and Tab key together to get Task View.

It enables you to move through the open tabs on your computer, however, if you don’t want to include a new window with the existing windows, then click New Desktop.

You can access it from the Task view icon from taskbar near the Search box. It will help you create a new virtual desktop.  With this feature, you can keep two tasks together on two different virtual desktops, without getting confused. This sorts your tasks clubbed together especially working on a single monitor.

Feature No 2:  Windows Sonic

If you love listening to music, this feature will definitely do wonders for you. Also, it enhances your experience while gaming as well. With Windows 10 Creators Update, you get an option Windows Sonic, to enable virtual surround sound for your headphones

To enable it, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to System Tray and right click on the sound icon to get Sound window.

Step 2: Click Spatial Sound, you will get another context menu.

Step 3: Now click Windows Sonic for Headphones to select.

Alternatively, you can go to Control Panel-> Hardware & Sound.

Now Click Sound from the next window to get Sound properties.

Click the playback device and get into its Speakers Properties.

Make sure to keep a checkmark beside Turn on 7.1 virtual surround sound.

Feature No 3: File History Backup

Backup is an important aspect of securing your data to avoid any data loss. If you have file backup, then you don’t have to worry about confidential information, in the event of a virus or malware attack, hard disk failure and more. With File History feature, you can get it done.

Windows inbuilt tool to back up your data, follow these steps:

Step 1: Press Windows and I to open Settings.

Step 2: Choose Update & Security.

Step 3: Click Backup from the left side of the panel.

Step 4: Turn on Backup using File History.

Note: It will create back up on another drive, so you need to choose either an external drive or internal drive to initiate.

Step 5: Click More options to choose folders that you want to get backed up.

This will back up your files and you can access them on your computer when needed. However, if you want to increase accessibility ground and looking for more security, it is always better to get a dedicated online backup tool such as Right Backup.

Get Right Backup, sign in and save your important documents, photos, videos, and access them seamlessly. Whenever you need to restore your data from the cloud, you can either get chosen folders with smart restore or can choose folders to be restored manually with Custom Restore.

Feature No 4: Sticky Notes

Sticky Notes is one of the best features of Windows that I personally use. It makes noting down or copying and pasting text or jot down a task easy. With the cloud sync, it is now accessible on other devices signed with same Microsoft account.

It is quite easy to use. You can type Sticky Notes in the search bar and press Enter to launch. You can pin it to the taskbar if frequently used. When used with Windows Ink, it detects your handwriting and also provide additional notes.

Feature No 5: Dynamic Lock

Did you know that you can use your smartphone to lock your PC? Yes, with Windows 10 there is a feature named Dynamic Lock. This will allow you to lock your computer using a phone. You need to make certain changes in settings both on your phone and PC.

Connect your PC and phone using Bluetooth, in case you don’t have inbuilt Bluetooth, then you need to get Bluetooth adapter.

Once you have paired your devices, follow the steps below to use Dynamic Lock:

Note: This will not immediately lock your PC so you need to be patient.

Additional Tip: If you want to optimize your computer and get rid of unnecessary files from your system, then you must have Advanced System Optimizer tool on your Windows. It enhances your system performance and manages disk space which helps in smooth functioning for your PC.
