Microsoft has been making relentless efforts in a fierce competition to outpace Google in the ever-evolving AI arena. In a significant stride towards enhancing user access to its AI capabilities, Microsoft unveiled the Bing Chat widget within the iOS application of its renowned search engine.
The Bing app receives a significant update, bringing along a duo of new Home Screen widgets. With a simple tap, users can initiate a chat seamlessly, thanks to these newly introduced widgets. Notably, this feature was previously exclusive to Android users, but Microsoft has extended its reach to iOS as well.
Introducing Bing Chat iOS Widget
“We’ve launched a new Bing Chat widget you can add to iOS. Once installed, you can initiate a chat from your home screen. If you have an iOS device, you can now add widgets to your home screen (as previously announced this is already available on Android),” Microsoft stated in a post.
Although users currently cannot engage with the widgets directly from the iOS 16 home screen, there’s still a notable convenience factor. When you tap on the Bing Chat widget residing on your iPhone’s home screen, it seamlessly navigates you to the app itself.
As we all know, Apple announced the arrival of iOS 17 in the WWDC 2023. This upcoming iOS update brings support for interactive widgets right on the home screen. If Microsoft chooses to implement this functionality, you might be able to engage with the AI chatbot without opening the app on iPhones running iOS 17.
