Huawei Speculated To Develop Its Own OS

Everyone is aware of the lawsuits Huawei is involved in along with the strain in its relations with the US.  Given the situations, Google or Microsoft could withdraw their support and don’t allow to use their operating systems in the company’s devices. Therefore, supposedly Huawei is ready with plan B.

What Is Plan B?

The company is supposedly working on a backup plan, in case the relationship with the US is further strained, resulting in no OS for the company’s devices.

As per various reports, Huawei might be developing its own operating systems computers and smartphones, if it won’t have Android and Windows operating systems for its devices.

As per Die Welt interview, the mobile chief of Huawei Technologies, Richard Yu said, “ We have prepared our own operating system. Should it ever happen that we can no longer use these systems, we would be prepared. That’s our plan B. But of course, we prefer to work with the ecosystems of Google and Microsoft.”

Why Plan B?

Tensions between the US government and Huawei has been escalated in the recent period. Huawei has been subjected to investigation due to its connections with the Chinese government. The relations were further strained because of  the arrest of  CFO Meng Wanzhou over supposed infringements of Iran sanctions. Also, on Friday, Canada approved the request by the US to deport Meng.

Another announcement which was given by Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State in February, further put a dent. As per the announcement, the US will not collaborate with countries that utilize Huawei’s technology, the reason being the security threats posed by them.

The counterattack by Huawei was a lawsuit against the US government for banning the company’s telecom equipment. The lawsuit was  filed the US District Court, Eastern District of Texas claiming, Congress had not been able to show “any evidence” to prove the ban put on the Huawei products is appropriate, therefore it is  “unconstitutional.”

This tug of war between Huawei and the US government doesn’t seem to end anytime soon and Huawei is aware of it. Therefore, if Huawei is planning to get its own operating system developed, then we say it is a smart move.
