With a clear mission to stop potential stalkers and their misuse of Bluetooth tracking devices like Apple AirTags, this functionality aims to safeguard users from unwanted tracking. Excitingly, this tracking alerts feature is now gradually making its way to users, ensuring a safer and more secure experience for all.
This smart feature operates by instantly notifying Android users whenever an unfamiliar Bluetooth tracker is detected moving alongside them, having been separated from its owner. For instance, if someone is employing an Apple AirTag or any other Bluetooth tracking device to stalk them, the user will promptly receive a notification, keeping them aware and secure.
When the users click on the notification, they’ll be presented with a map displaying the exact location of the tracking device. A nifty “Play sound” feature is also at their disposal, allowing them to trigger a sound from the tracker, thereby aiding in pinpointing its precise whereabouts.

Users can proactively search for nearby trackers that might have become abandoned by their owners using the handy “manual scan” option provided by the service. As of now, the unknown tracker alerts feature is exclusively tailored for Apple AirTags. However, Google is gearing up to broaden its support, reaching out to other Bluetooth trackers, including popular ones like Tile.
