How To Fix Connectivity Issues With Google Home?
1. Enable Airplane Mode and Toggle on Wi-Fi
Smartphone users should follow these steps to ensure their device is not using cellular data. The main culprit of switching to cellular data is a weak network connection. When your device is switched to cellular data smartphone directly disconnects Amazon Echo & Google Home and its set up process.
To prevent this from happening, you need to ensure, you’ve Airplane Mode enabled from the settings of your smartphone before instating the step-up process. After making the required changes, you need to toggle on your Wi-Fi. Please keep in mind when Wi-Fi is enabled, Airplane Mode automatically gets disabled.
Now, try to reconnect with the network, and launch Amazon Echo and Google Home app to initiate the set-up process.
2. Change Your Wi-Fi Band
Both Amazon Echo & Google Home are compatible with 2.4 GHz or 5GHz band. However, normally users prefer 5 GHz band due to its perks like faster speed and fewer congestion issues. Well, the performance of Wi-fi-Band depends upon the distance of your new voice assistant from the router. In case, you are using the Google Home in one corner of the house and your router is kept in another corner then you might face issue connectivity issues. However, when you get such issues you need to switch your wi-fi bands from one to another to get a smooth and better connection.
Note: Mesh system can easily choose their own preferred band to get the best connection without any interruptions.
3. Say No to Ad-Hoc Networks (Unsupported)
As per Amazon, ad-hoc networks are not supported. So, if you are one of them who is using the ad-hoc network, then you need to change the network. You can go for a new traditional infrastructure mode especially for Amazon Echo devices to establish a connection with Wi-fi.
Google does not say anything like Amazon. So, if you’re using ad-hoc networks and facing issues then you can opt for infrastructure mode. If your ad-hoc network is working for you then you can continue with the same network and there is no need for Switch.
4. Reboot or Restart Your Router
Reboot and restarting your router or smartphone can mainly fix the temporary errors. So, whenever you get issues or not able to establish a reliable connection, then you can reboot or restart your router. All you need to do is, just pull the plug of your router and wait for a few seconds and then plug it back.
