All You Need To Know About Snapchat’s Snap Map Feature

Snapchat’s new ‘pinch to zoom map’ – Snap Map – feature gives a whole new way of exploring the world. Snap Map lets you share your current location, which appears to all your friends on a map and updates when you open Snapchat. This amazing feature even allows you to share your snaps with other fellow snap junkies, without disclosing your current account info. How cool is that, right?

Let’s dive in further and see how it works.

How to Use Snap Map Feature

For starters, you need to update your Snapchat application.

The best way to get to Snap Map is to use the two-finger pinch to-zoom gesture on the primary screen of Snapchat. Do keep it in mind,  if you pinch to-zoom by spreading your fingers separately, the application will rather zoom your phone’s camera. Only pinching your fingers closer together launches  the Snap Map highlight.

Once the map loads on the screen, tapping on actionmoji avatar opens their Story to show what they’re up to, or lets you message them directly to make meet up plans.

Don’t Worry, Your location won’t be Constantly Tracked

As indicated by Snapchat, your area on Snap Map is just refreshed when you open the application, rather than working like Apple’s Find My Friends application that continually tracks and offers your whereabouts.

Don’t feel like sharing with companions where you’re at a specific time? Try not to open Snapchat. Or, on the other enable Ghost Mode, which we will get to in a moment.

Heat Map of Snaps

Another remarkable highlight of Snap map is the heat map feature which indicates different colors in specific zones.

Those blobs are areas where somebody has openly shared a Snap using the “Our Story” option. Tap any of the blobs to see what’s happening, quest your loneliness and get ready to explore a different part of the world. You also can see various “heat” colors on the Snap Map indicating lots of Snaps being uploaded, like a concert or big event from which you’d want to explore Snap Stories.

Customize Your Privacy Settings

Last but not the least, don’t forget to set your privacy customizations. If you later choose you’d rather not share your current location with somebody, or anybody so far as that is concerned, you can alter your inclinations by heading on to Snap Map. Tap the Settings symbol in the upper right corner and set “Who can See my location”.
