After an extensive two-year beta phase, Adobe has officially launched its web-based version of Photoshop. This streamlined online iteration of their renowned desktop photo editing software became widely accessible on the 27th of September 2023. It represents the company’s inaugural program to be seamlessly woven into the fabric of AI, showcasing a deep integration with this technology.
The web iteration of Photoshop operates smoothly in any web browser, eliminating the necessity for program downloads and installations. It is integral to all paid Photoshop subscriptions and will not offer a free-to-use option upon its initial release. Users, however, have the opportunity to sign up for a complimentary seven-day trial period.
Adobe’s Photoshop Web Launch Shines with AI
As per available details, Adobe Photoshop for the web is set to feature the highly acclaimed Generative Expand and Generative Fill tools, which were only launched in the Photoshop desktop edition. Leveraging Adobe’s advanced Firefly generative AI model, these capabilities are accessible for commercial purposes and enable users to efficiently add, cut down, or enlarge an image by employing text-based prompts in more than 100 languages. All of this is done while preserving the symmetry and lighting of the original image.
Additionally, the web-based version of Photoshop includes a variety of commonly used tools that are also found in its desktop counterpart. However, it has a new layout that aims to provide users with a more “streamlined” experience; this is especially useful for those new to Photoshop.
