Threads, a potential substitute for Twitter developed by Instagram, is slated to make its debut earlier than originally expected. This disclosure comes after a wave of unhappiness among Twitter users who were left dissatisfied by recent updates introduced by Elon Musk, including the implementation of a Rate Limit and mandatory verification to gain access to Twitter posts.
According to a report from Forbes, the app surfaced on the Google Play store in Europe during the early hours of Monday, catching the attention of users. By Monday night, it swiftly made its way to the Apple App Store, ensuring availability across both major platforms.
According to a recent listing on the App Store, Threads is set to be unleashed on Thursday (6 July 2023). If you’re already an Instagram user, registering for Threads will be a breeze. Threads ensures seamless continuity, allowing users to effortlessly follow their current accounts from Instagram while retaining their existing usernames. This development comes as a response to Twitter’s recent announcement, stirring up discussions among users regarding the platform’s restrictions.

Rumors suggest that the app, codenamed Project 92 during its inception, has been in active development since the start of this year, back in January. The app is now open for pre-order on the App Store, allowing enthusiasts to secure their access ahead of time. While the availability of pre-orders for the app on the App Store is indeed a promising development, it’s important to temper our excitement. It appears that Meta, the parent company, may opt for a gradual rollout strategy rather than granting instant access to all users.
The listing of the app on Twitter caught the attention of Jack Dorsey, former CEO and co-founder of Twitter, who didn’t miss the opportunity to take a subtle jab at Meta regarding user data collection. Dorsey shared a screenshot highlighting the extensive data that Threads plan to gather from its users, wryly stating, “All your threads belong to us.” Elon Musk chimed in with agreement, commenting on Dorsey’s tweet and simply adding, “Yeah.”
