In recent years, live streaming video games have become a huge phenomenon. Most people do it for fun, but some make money by playing games. Yes, you read it right, by playing games. It sounds unbelievable, but it is the truth.
And this can be done by anyone, including you.
However, this guide is about streaming Android games to YouTube and Twitch.
So, let’s get started.
What Is Game Streaming?
Sharing live footage of gameplay is game streaming. This helps gamers see all competitive levels of the game and decide if it is worth buying or not. Moreover, players get to know how to finish the game, collect coins, and find secrets.
Streaming Games From Android To Youtube
Earlier using YouTube Gaming app, streaming games from Android was easy. But in 2019, Google ended it and wrapped gaming features into the YouTube app. This means now we will have to use YouTube’s main app to stream games.
However, there’s a catch you can stream the game on YouTube from mobile-only when you have 1,000 subscribers.
If you fulfill this criterion, here’s how you can stream the game using the YouTube main app.
- Launch YouTube app
- Tap camera icon next to search > Go Live
- Allow access to Camera, Microphone, and Location > Create Channel
- Tap phone icon (to stream phone’s screen) > give a title, add a description and set privacy settings > Next
- Set thumbnail, screen orientation > Next > Go Live.
That’s it; you will now see a toolbar, allowing you to control the stream. Tap Go Live. You’ll see a 3-second countdown before gaming streaming using YouTube’s main app starts.
Stream Game Using Twitch
Twitch offered by Amazon is the largest online streaming community. To stream the game on Twitch using an Android device, we will use two ways.
Method 1: Steamlabs
Streamlabs is an impressive, 100% focused tool designed for streaming games. To use Streamlabs for game streaming, you’ll need to download the app.
This will not only make streaming to Twitch super easy but will also allow you to share broadcasts on Mixer, YouTube. Once downloaded grant a few permissions on Twitch and you are all set for streaming.
While streaming content makes sure, you don’t share any personal information. We recommend using Do Not Disturb mode.
Steps to stream to Twitch using Streamlabs
- Assuming you have downloaded the Streamlabs app, we suggest you sign to Twitch.
- Grant audio and mic permissions. If you want to draw it over other apps, allow that setting also.
- Set up screen and camera Sources and Widgets.
- Tap red Stream button > enter stream information > Ok
- All set, you will now stream to Twitch.
To add more sources, tap the hamburger menu.
Method 2: OBS
Heads up Twitch app for mobile currently does not let you stream games from Android to Twitch account. We might see this feature in the future. However, the app allows streaming IRL (In Real Life) using the phone’s mic and camera.
To stream Android gaming, we will need to set up streaming software the most popular of all is OBS (Open Broadcaster Software).
OBS allows you to stream gameplay from PC, Mac, and record it too.
To stream games using mobile devices connect your smartphone to PC via USB debugging. For this, you will need to unlock the Developer option. To do so, follow the steps below:
- Head to the phone’s settings.
- Tap build number 10 times repetitively until you see the developer option.
- Tap Developer option > USB Debugging.
Next, use the best Android emulator to cast a phone screen on a PC. Once you have it set up an OBS to Twitch account. Make sure your phone is connected and streaming to your PC. You can lay out-stream via webcam. That’s it you are all set simply hit start streaming and you are good to go.
So, this is all using any of the two ways you can stream to Twitch, or if you have 1000 subscribers, you can use the YouTube app. As far as I am concerned, I like Streamlabs over OBS as it is the most convenient way to stream the game from Android.
