How to Check If Firmware on Your Apple AirPods Is Updated

Apple’s revolutionary (if not revolting) AirPods are loaded with features such as tracking lost earphones and battery check. Moreover, they help you connect with Siri without touching the phone. Do you know that Air Pods operate on a special firmware and it has got an update too? Unknown to many, Apple secretly rolled out a firmware update for AirPods. Earlier version of firmware for AirPods was 3.3.1 which is updated to 3.5.1. Unfortunately, there is no way by which you can manually update firmware of your AirPods. But here is how you can check if your AirPods are up to date and if not how you can meet the conditions for them to get updated.

Before proceeding further check three things.

If these conditions are met the firmware should automatically update after sometime. But you can also check manually if the firmware is updated or not.

  1. Make sure your AirPods are paired to your iOS device (opening charging case or putting AirPods in your ears will help you to know pairing status).
  2. Launch the Settings app on your iOS device.
  3. Go to General.
  4. Tap About.

  1. Scroll down and go to AirPods.
  2. Check the number next to Firmware Version to see what firmware version your AirPods are running.
