Step 1: Open Windows Explorer and type the address: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\

Step 2: Double click on the file named ‘hosts’ and select Notepad from the next list. 

Step 3: Bring your cursor on the last line, which states ‘#127.0.0.1 localhost’.

Step 4: Press Enter here, and you will be able to create a new line. (In case you are not able to edit it, right-click on the file named hosts, choose Properties, come to Security tab, Administrator account and Edit.)

Step 5: At the new line, type 127.0.0.1, space, address of the website. For example, if you want to block Facebook, type 127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com. Now, you can add as many sites as you like in separate lines in a similar fashion.

Step 6: Click on Save after closing the hosts’ files. Reboot the computer and notice the changes you have made!

And your chosen websites on Google Chrome are blocked permanently!

How To Block A Website On Chrome? (Mac)

To find a way on how to block websites on Chrome permanently, Mac also offers its own set of instructions.

Step 1: Log into as Administrator.

Step 2: Open System Preferences > User and Groups.

Step 3: Click on the Lock icon present below. As asked, enter the username and password.

Step 4: Choose the user, check the option to Enable Parental Control. Finally, select ‘Open Parental Control’ and enter the password when required.

Step 5: In the next section, open Web tab, choose Customize option, go to Never Allow these Websites and press select ‘+’. Now, start adding the websites that you want to block and save the settings.

How To Block A Website On Chrome? (Android)

The best way to block a website permanently on Chrome starts with installing ES File Explorer. 

Note: As the app is of Chinese’s origin, it may not be available in India, because the Indian government has banned some of the Chinese apps

Step 1: Open ES Explorer and start with the Menu button from the left. Now go to Local > Device > system > etc.

Step 2: You will locate the ‘hosts’ file. Tap it open in the text format and open ES Note Editor.

Step 3: Now locate the pencil icon in this editor and add a new line with syntax 127.0.0.1. For example, try 127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com.

Step 4: Reboot the device to see the changes.

How To Block A Website On iPhone?

Follow the steps to know how you can block websites on browser permanently on the iPhone. 

Step 1: Open Safari and reach Settings.

Step 2: Go to General > Option restrictions > enter Device passcode when prompted.

Step 3:  Scroll down and tap on ‘Websites’. When the next section appears, tap on ‘Add a website’ under Never Allow and start adding specific websites.

All the website names added will not be able to open up in the browser.
