How to Avoid Google From Listening To You

Voice Assistants have been in much use nowadays. Almost every Android owner uses it. Well, have you ever wondered what does Google does with your voice? Everyone knows Google stores every bit of your information to give you a better and refined experience.

Using Google Assistant to carry on daily tasks such as birthday reminders, browsing the Internet, making calls etc., people should know that their voice is being recorded and stored by Google in its database. Well to some this is normal, but for some, this might be a security issue.

In case you do not want Google to store your voice, there are ways by which you can easily avoid Google from listening to your voice.

Let’s first see how to disable Google Voice Assistant.

Turn Off Google Voice Assistant:

Google’s Voice Assistant can be disabled in two ways:

  1. Open Settings, from the list, locate and select Google.
  2. Under Google, locate and click Search under Services.
  3. Here under Search category, look for Voice and tap on it.
  4. Now click on Voice Match. Lastly, toggle off Say “Ok Google” any time.

OR

  1. Search for Google App and launch it.
  2. Now click on the three-horizontal line and then click on Settings.
  3. Look for Voice and click on it. Now click on Voice Match.
  4. Lastly, toggle off Say “Ok Google” any time.

Unlink your Voice Recording with your Google Account:

After that Google’s Voice Assistant has been disabled, the next step is to unlink your voice recording with your Google Account. For this:

  1. Search for Google App and launch it.
  2. Now click on the three-horizontal line and then click on Settings.
  3. 3.Tap on Accounts and privacy and then click on Google activity controls.
  4. Search for Voice and Audio Activity and tap on it.
  5. Toggle of the slider to unlink your voice to your Google Account.

After this is done the last thing to do to avoid Google from listening your voice is disable Google from using the smartphone microphone.

Don’t let Google use the device Microphone, block it:

  1. Navigate to Settings -> Apps & notifications.
  2. Scroll down to locate See all apps and search for Google app and tap on it.
  3. Here click on Permissions and finally toggle off Microphone.
