Google Introduces AI-Powered Article Summarization for Quick Info Grabs

Google has recently upgraded its AI-driven Search Generative Experience (SGE) with advanced features, to boost its internet information comprehension. Google’s AI-powered Search Generative Experience (SGE) will soon offer article summarization, as mentioned in a recent blog post. Already proficient at condensing search results, the Search Generative Experience (SGE) spares you from endless scrolling. This new feature aims to provide aid after accessing a link.

AI-Powered SGE Summarizes Articles Instantly

Initially launching on Android and iOS, Google’s AI-generated article summaries will eventually make their way to Chrome on desktop platforms.

The feature termed “SGE while browsing” by Google might not become immediately visible to you. This new functionality is being introduced as an initial experiment within the opt-in Search Labs program, starting its rollout today. If you’re already part of SGE, you’ll gain access to it. Otherwise, you can individually opt-in for this feature if you still need to do so.

Nonetheless, it’s important to note that this functionality is restricted to articles that are openly accessible. Google won’t offer summaries for items that are password-protected and behind paywalls.

When using the Google app on mobile, you can tap on the Generate icon at the bottom of the screen. As a result, Google will display a collection of AI-generated “key points” extracted from the article.

Occasionally, we search for word meanings on Google by simply entering the word into the search bar. However, this routine might become unnecessary.

Additionally, Google revealed that while browsing, users will have the capability to access definitions, as well as related images and diagrams for specific terms. This innovation aims to eradicate the requirement for separate definition searches. The technology behemoth stated that this enhancement is intended to assist users engaged in exploring novel subjects or seeking explanations for unfamiliar concepts.

Unveiled during Google I/O in May, SGE has undergone refinement in the subsequent months. Alongside, Google is introducing several other enhancements to SGE. For instance, while viewing SGE results for searches related to science, history, and economics, you can hover over specific words to access definitions or diagrams pertaining to the topic.

And lastly, let us remind you that initially, this feature will debut on the Google app for Android and iOS. Furthermore, the company plans to introduce it to the Chrome browser on desktop platforms “in the upcoming days.”
