“For years, our users have conveniently translated emails in Gmail on the web to over 100 languages. As outlined in Google’s blog post, the translation capability works dynamically by recognizing when an email’s language diverges from the user’s chosen display language. When this happens, a notification strip will appear at the top of the email and invite you to translate the message. From a dropdown menu, users can select their preferred language, or they can simply dismiss the banner if they opt not to translate the mail.

Furthermore, users can personalize their translation preferences within the settings. This allows them to specify languages they wish to translate consistently or, conversely, languages they prefer not to have translated at all.

For mobile translation of a message, users simply need to tap the “Translate” choice found within the three-dot icon positioned at the upper-right corner of the email.

Subsequently, users can tap the banner to unveil the translated version of the email. Alternatively, they have the liberty to dismiss the uppermost banner. Moreover, there’s an option to permanently refrain from translating emails in that specific language. For further customization, users can define their translation inclinations within the settings, allowing them to stipulate languages they wish to consistently translate or exclude from translation altogether.
