Facebook Will Roll Out A New Update For More Transparency

Facebook has had arduous go of things recently, however it looks like that the company wants to rectify their mistakes and bring changes to help users control types of ads are targeted to them & who shared their personal information in first place.

What Is The New Update?

Facebook puts a step forward to prevent marketers & ad agencies from recklessly using your data for targeted ads. Previously, the company was only displaying which businesses are using your contact information & gave you the capability to personalize which ads you’re interested in to see.

Now with the initiative to give users more control over ads targeting, the tech giant is going to introduce another way for blocking non-consensual ad targeting.

In Facebook’s, “Why Am I Seeing This?” interface, which shows details about the brand that purchased the ad & basic demographic details. Now it will reveal much more information, particularly about when & who uploaded user’s contact details in first place & when it changed hands.

“Facebook will start to show when your contact info was uploaded, if it was by the brand or one of their agency/developer partners, and when access was shared between partners. The goal is to keep giving people a better understanding of how advertisers use their information.” Explained Facebook’s spokesperson.

Starting from February 28th, this new update will be rolled out. The new ‘Why am I Seeing this?’ will display:
