How Do I Turn On Subtitles In Windows Media Player?
Here are the steps to add subtitles in Windows Media player. You can follow through the instructions for having subtitles on your downloaded videos. The subtitles file needs to be downloaded on your system.
Once, you have your video file, and the subtitle file on your system, you can save them together in a folder. This method will work as it starts with the following steps:
Step 1: Launch Windows Media Player on your system.
Step 2: Go to your folder where the video file and the subtitle file is saved.
Step 3: Change the name of both the files as same with a different file extension. Here, we have used Test Video 1 and changed our subtitle file’s name accordingly. Change the name of either of them to the same as others.
Step 4: To open the video file, right-click on it, and from the properties, select Open With Windows Media Player.
Step 5: Once the video starts playing, you need to move your cursor on the window, and right-click on it. Under the option, go to Lyrics, captions, and subtitles, and click on it.
Step 6: The status is Off on default, and you need to click On if available to turn on the subtitles.
Step 7: If you are facing trouble playing the subtitles with the video file, try to change the format of the subtitles file.
Step 8: You need to download the Advanced Codec which is a third-party tool. It helps you to convert the digital data stream. You can easily download it from its official website.
Once you are done with the installation, run the program as administrator.
Click on the type of file format you are using, here we use an MP4 file, and therefore open that tab. Now go to the option of “disable Media Foundation for MP4”, and check the box in front of it. This option will help you in adding subtitles to the video which you are playing in Windows Media Player.
Step 9: Re-open the Windows Media player and play your video, this time you will see that the video plays with the subtitles.
