A recent update about Twitter can make it a happier place to be. Twitter is launching a live video API tomorrow morning to make to make it much easier for media publishers to post live video broadcasts. In simple words, the API will allow big video cameras, editing boards, desktop editing software and even satellite vans, to directly broadcast their live videos via Twitter.
The sources state that Twitter’s Live API will work like the Facebook Live API allowing us to connect professional tech equipment to social medium.
Big video cameras, modifying boards, various pc editing tools, satellite trucks and more will be capable to immediately broadcast their content on Twitter through this new API.
This latest move by Twitter of adding a Live API can lure many creators and owners to put their first screen inside Twitter’s second screen.
Does this Mark the Downfall of Periscope?
Periscope is Twitter’s own live video app that allows you to connect with world with real time broadcasting and live videos. Now a constant question that’s popping on our mind is whether Twitter will continue using the app or not? Or is it going to supplant it with APIs and features of its own. Another side of the story is that the downfall of Periscope’s downloads has got the company to this decision of incorporating an inbuilt live feature within the app itself. Since then, Twitter has been working upon strengthening its video capabilities by trying to broadcast big live events like NFL and Presidential debates.
So, let’s wait and see whether Twitter stays committed with Periscope or it will roll some more of broadcasting and livestreaming features into its main app. Time will surely tell!
