Quick Guide on Using Windows 10’s New Clipboard

Windows 10’s recent update has given us plenty of reasons to enhance our experience. So, let’s add one more reason on the list! Yes, that’s right. Windows 10 also offers a new Clipboard feature which is a brand new way of noting down frequently used things; keep track of important errands and so much more. Not just this! You can also access the entire history of items which you pinned down on Clipboard, and sync your Clipboard across various devices and much more.

So, let’s see how to use Clipboard on Windows 10 for an all in all new experience!

How to Enable Clipboard on Windows 10?

As of now this feature is only available in the Insiders Preview form. For those of us who’re not aware, Windows Insider Preview allows you to use latest features before they roll out to public. But as per our recommendation we would suggest you to wait until this feature is rolled out for all Windows users.

Here’s what you need to do to enable Clipboard on Windows 10.

  1. Head to Settings > System > Clipboard.
  2. Now toggle the “Save multiple Options” and turn it ON to save clipboard history.

  3. Next, toggle the “Sync Across Devices” switch to sync clipboard data across all your Windows 10 devices.
  4. If you don’t want to manually manage syncing, you can instead pick the “Automatic Syncing” option which automatically syncs all your clipboard data to various devices.

To use Clipboard, all you have to do is simply press the Windows + V key combination in any application.

How to View Your Clipboard History?

Once the Clipboard panel appears on the Window, you’ll see a variety of options. On the top, you’ll see the last copied item and once you scroll down you can access the entire history of items which you copied on the Clipboard.

To access frequently used items, simply hover the item on the pin icon on the right, so that Windows can keep that particular item on the top. In order to remove an item from the Clipboard item which you don’t find relevant, tap the tiny “X” icon to remove it from the Clipboard panel.

P.S. As of now Clipboard can only support JPG images which are less than 1 MB in size. So, by any chance if you copy large sized images or videos, it won’t be copied on the Clipboard panel.

How to Get Rid of Clipboard History?

If there are some documents and files which you want to keep private and secure from others reach here’s how you can clear the Clipboard history.

So, if you want to get rid of your entire Clipboard history head on to Settings> System> Clipboard.

Now tap the “Clear” button under Clear Clipboard Data. This will clear your entire Clipboard history across all synced Windows 10 devices.

So folks, here was a quick guide on how to use Clipboard on Windows 10. However, as on now you have to wait for a while until you get hands on with this new feature. Currently, this feature is only available in the Insiders Preview and we’re expecting a stable update sometime around October, 2018.
