Protect Your Android Phone from Getting Hacked by A Kid

Toddlers love to be busy all the time and when it comes to smartphones, they can be glued to it for hours. Kids are so enticed with mobile phones that it becomes tough for parents to separate them from these devices.

Usually people hide their phones when they have kids around. But occasionally you must hand over your phone to your child as a distraction especially when with your friends or at an appointment. You want them to stay quiet for some time so they won’t create a nuisance at public place.

Use A Child-Locked App

Create A Guest User Account

When your kids have access to your phone, they can open every possible app and folder mostly out of curiosity. But you cannot stop them from doing it because they hardly listen and remember such things so here we got your back. You can always enable guest user account mode for them. So, anytime they access the device, your important stored data won’t be compromised. Here are a few steps to enable guest account mode.

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen to bring the notification bar on your screen.
  • Double tap on your profile image.
  • Click on Guest User.
  • Wait for few seconds until the set up a profile process is completed.

Note: (You can switch your profile from guest user to admin whenever you need to use your phone by using above step 1 and 2).

Change Lock Settings

In case if you are not willing to create a second account for kids, you can change the lock settings so, kids would not be able to get into your phone when you leave it near them.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Click on Security and then Screen Lock.
  • Choose a Password, PIN or Pattern to lock your device.

Screen Pinning

There are many incidents when you must hand over your smartphone to your kids but you don’t want them to open or mess around with few selected applications (like Facebook or emails) so without hampering your work, you can divert your child’s mind for a while.

  • Bring the Notification bar by swiping down from the top of the screen.
  • Click on date and time in the Notification Tray, then select the gear icon to open Settings.
  • Choose the Security from Settings menu and click on Advanced.
  • Select the Screen Pinning and set its switch to the “ON” position.

Password Protect Your Google Play Store

Make sure that you aren’t charged for those apps that your children mistakenly or unintentionally purchase. To ensure that purchase is authorized by you, always restrict the Google Play Store purchase.

  • Open the Google Play Store.
  • Select the Menu button and click on Settings.
  • Scroll Down to the Users Controls and click on Set or change PIN.
  • Create a PIN, that your kid can’t guess.

To make sure your data and phone are safe, because when your kid use your smartphone for a while, he/she might mess up things for you by delete things or spend money unnecessarily but you can always set things up correctly from the beginning to handle it properly.
