OnePlus 5 to be Launched on June 20

OnePlus is launching its latest smartphone model this month. A relatively new entrant in the smartphone market, OnePlus has already become popular among Android users. On June 20, 2017 the company will launch OnePlus 5, its latest model in the US. OnePlus has never been conspicuous with its launches, but the OnePlus 5 looks like an exception to this rule.

OnePlus called its last model 3T. OnePlus 5 thus came as a bit of surprise. We are hoping skipping a number with the new model probably has good reason!

A few weeks back, we got to hear the device would be powered by 2.35GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, the same processor found on flagships like Samsung’s Galaxy S8.

OnePlus 5 has dual SIM support (both GSM) and would accept Nano-SIM in both the slots. Connectivity options are standard viz. Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, 3G and 4G. Sensors on the phone are rumoured to include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.

Other speculation point to a beefier battery and more RAM, both of which have been strong selling points on OnePlus devices. Adding more life to battery, it’ll be a 4000 mAh battery and 8 GB of RAM.

Partnership with DxO was recently acknowledged by OnePlus to improve the camera quality. OnePlus 5 is said to be equipped with a 23 MP front and 16 MP rear camera.

Taking everything into account, it can be presumed that OnePlus 5 has the potential to topple traditional Android phone brands in the years to come, especially given its pricing.

But as of now, we are waiting for the new model launch with bated breath. Looks like it’s going to be a loaded phone at an affordable price.
