Google Meet Video Conferencing Hardware Kit Announced by Asus

Looking at the popularity of video conferencing apps, Asus announced new video conferencing hardware to conduct Google Meet meetings.  Using this new gear once things settle and we are back to office companies will be able to make conference calls easily using Google Meet.

Of course, this is a way to boost Google Meet usage but using this new kit will help the business grow. Due to this current change, many companies have decided to continue working from home. For them, this kit will help to collaborate with teams and stay in sync.

What Does The Asus Hardware Kit Consist Of?

Previously known as Chromebox, the Asus Kit is now called Google Meet Compute System. It looks like Mac Mini and runs Chrome OS that consists of:

  • Intel i7 Core processor
  • 128 GB SSD
  • 4K video support
  • Can connect multiple displays simultaneously
  • A magnetic chassis to attack stand or mount the computer
  • Different ports for HDMI, USB 3.1 Type C, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Lan Port (Rj45), etc.

What type of kits are available?

There are three different types of kit:

  • Starter kit for £1,650/€1,915 (~$2,012)
  • Small/Medium Room kit for £1,970/€2,320 (~$2,402)
  • Large Room Kit £1,700/€1,970 (~$2,073)

Starter and Small/Medium room kits are designed for conference calls with up to eight people. It consists of a 4K UHD Huddly camera with a 120-degree field view and 4X Zoom without losing 720p image quality. You can use a remote control to join or end meetings and adjust the volume using an integrated keyboard.

While Large Room Kit is designed to initiate calls with up to 20 people, it will use Logitech’s PTZ Pro 2 Camera which will not be supplied. Companies will have to work with the supplier to get it.

This camera can capture 1080 video with 10X zoom.

Further Small/ Medium and Large Room kits come with a separate touch screen panel that can be used to manage calls.

When Will Be The Kits Available?

The Kit will be available in June in 28 countries and will come in three different price options.’

The kits offered by Asus are one of its kind; they are the first to come after Google Meet rebrand that offers Google Meet integration. Using these kits, businesses will be able to record meetings and save them on Google Drive for better syncing. Further Asus hardware includes beta support for Google Assistant.
