After being rivals for years, Google Voice and Google Fi now can be used with one account. This means no longer you will have to choose one over the other. The change has started to roll out and will be available for all in weeks to come.
How will this new change help users?
With the separation being revoked, now users will no longer have to make a choice. They can now make calls through Google Voice and forward it to the Google Fi numbers and vice versa.
Not only this, even when you are using different numbers, but you can also attend the calls in one central place. This means users can still use separate numbers for professional and personal purposes.

How to set up call forwarding
If you are new to Google-Fi and would like to set up call forwarding, here’s how to add or edit a number.
- Download and install Google Fi app
- Launch the app
- Tap “Account” tab > “Phone settings
- Choose Call forwarding.
- Next, add or edit the number to which you would like to forward the call.
- You’ll then be asked to verify the number. To complete the verification, follow on-screen instructions,
Further, if you like using Hangouts for chat, you will need to choose from either Google Fi or Google Voice. Once you have signed up for Fi, Hangouts will automatically work for it. In addition to this, if you do not want to use Google Voice for calls and SMS head to Hangout app > settings > tap Google Voice item and check to Receive SMS and voicemails in Hangouts
This new change will surely prove beneficial for users as they will be able to enjoy both the best cellular and data coverage. Moreover, now benefitting from the Bill Protection feature will be easy, and users will no longer have to choose between the two apps. They will now be able to make and receive calls from the same account.
